Duties of the Dormitory Committee

All dormitories have door access control. Students must use their card to go in and out of their dormitories; dormitories have a selfgovernance committee, each dormitory with 2 members and several floor leaders to help resolve issues of students in the dormitory.


※Duties of dormitory residents
  1. Responsible for managing matters related to dormitory life and safety.
  2. Inform superiors of issues that dormitory residents have.
  3. Supervise and arrange shifts and go on inspection tours.
  4. Collect (return) deposits (check that assets are correct) and issue keys, air conditioner cards, and magnetic cards.
  5. Check if the dormitories have any unregistered residents (irregular inspection).
  6. Plan and organize resident meetings at the beginning and end of each semester.
  7. Close and open the main entrance of dormitories (Chinese New Year Holiday).
  8. Help students handle emergency situations and contact Mr. Chen or the military instructor on duty, and supervise power and water control.
  9. Help key in data of magnetic cards, reissue magnetic cards, and make keys.
  10. Help residents with moving in and out of the dormitories.
  11. Organize the asset control chart with students move in and out of dormitories.
  12. Check if assets in public areas are in the right amount every week (e.g. tables and chairs in the lounge).
  13. Check if the dormitory surveillance system is functioning normally every week.
  14. Help residents put up posters.
  15. Help arrange dormitory safety inspections and cleaning.
  16. Announce the hours that dormitory cadre members will provide services every day.
  17. Handle matters instructed by the Housing Services Section.
  18. Arrange shifts for residents to clean the refrigerator, and arrange a floor leader to make inspections.
  19. Attend dormitory related meetings.
  20. Arrange shifts for staying during winter and summer vacation.

※Duties of floor leaders
  1. Help the Dormitory Committee issue keys (check and verify the assets card) and check assets when students move out of the dormitory.
  2. Check if assets in public areas are in the right amount every week (e.g. tables and chairs in the lounge).
  3. Help residents submit maintenance requests and inform superiors of residents’ opinions.
  4. Check the cleanness of public spaces and maintain quiet and order on each floor.
  5. Safekeeping and maintenance of assets in public areas on the floor they are responsible for.
  6. Help students handle emergency situations and contact Mr. Chen or the military instructor on duty.
  7. Periodically check if there are any unregistered residents on the floor.
  8. Stay in the dormitory for duty when it is their shift and supervise power and water control.
  9. Help the Dormitory Committee organize resident meetings at the beginning and end of each semester.
  10. Attend dormitory meetings.
  11. Help with dormitory safety inspections and cleaning.
  12. Handle matters instructed by the Housing Services Section and Dormitory Committee.
  13. Open room doors for residents who forget their key.

※Duties of dormitory residents
  1. Help the floor leader search and report data, and notify roommates of related regulations.
  2. Maintain cleanness, order, and safety within each room.
  3. Maintain public assets in each room, immediately notify the floor leader to handle or report lost or damaged assets for repair.
  4. Urge roommates to abide by the notices on living in dormitories.
  5. Clean the room and return the key, magnetic card, and asset list to the floor leader when leaving NCUE.
  6. Attend resident meetings at the beginning and end of each semester.
  7. Follow any announcements and news on the Facebook fan page of the Housing Services Section and dormitory.

※Duties of the cadre member on duty
  1. The cadre member on duty should maintain quiet in the lounge and maintain dormitory safety.
  2. Help residents borrow public areas and check the area after they are done using.
  3. Check if residents properly cleaned the refrigerator.
  4. Turn on dormitory lights at 6:00 P.M., make a round of the dormitory to see if there are any unusual situations (including students of the opposite sex still in the dormitory; ask them to leave) at 11:30 P.M., and power and water control.
  5. Remind residents and parents not to park their cars or scooters in the dormitory area.
  6. In case of an emergency, please notify the Dormitory Committee and nighttime counselor, Mr. Chen at ext.5757 or the military instructor on duty (0933-415409), and document the incident on the duty record.
  7. Fill out the duty record when on duty.
